Augustines

Augustines are an American indie rock band formed in 2010 in Brooklyn, New York, by founding members Billy McCarthy and Eric Sanderson. Known for their emotionally charged sound, sweeping melodies and cathartic lyrics, Augustines continue to captivate audiences worldwide with their raw storytelling and impassioned performances.

The band’s roots trace back to their previous group Pela, following which McCarthy and Sanderson together with the addition of drummer Rob Allen, reformed under the name Augustines. Over the years, the band’s line-up continued to expand with trumpet player Yannis Panos and Tom Zovich of Pela, solidifying the bands anthemic sound.

Augustines’ breakthrough album, Rise Ye Sunken Ships (2011), earned widespread acclaim for its triumphant spirit and deeply personal themes. Tracks like “Chapel Song” and “Book of James” helped the band earn a reputation for charged lyrics and unforgettable live performances. Their self-titled second album, Augustines (2014), continued their exploration of personal themes with songs like “Now You Are Free” and “The Avenue” resonating deeply with fans.

In addition to their music, the band’s journey was immortalized in the documentary Rise: The Story of Augustines. The film captures the highs and lows of the band’s story, showcasing their relentless pursuit of their dreams and earning critical praise for its honest portrayal of their emotional and creative journey.

The band released their third album, This Is Your Life in 2016 and following a hiatus are working together on new music projects once again.
